Dear families,
Congratulations on your very kind children!! They reached a milestone this week by finishing their kindness charts! We told them back in August that upon completion of the charts, we would celebrate in two ways. First, we would have a party for ourselves. (Our party will take place this Thursday afternoon at 2:00.) Second, we would do an extra-large kindness for our school. (This will occur on Wednesday afternoon.)
Regarding the party for ourselves, the students brainstormed, discussed and voted. The result is that they will have a dance party and watch a movie while enjoying a slice of pizza, a fruit smoothie and a piece of pie .
For our school-wide kindness - and in keeping with the theme of the upcoming holiday of Thanksgiving - we have decided that the students will show their appreciation to the school teachers and staff for all they do. Therefore, each student will "adopt" a staff member, make a gift of appreciation (a craft project), bake some cookies, write a special card of thanks, wrap these up and hand-deliver them to the staff member .
We will supply all of the arts and crafts items and the pizza. We are requesting your help in supplying the ingredients for the cookies and the items for the party. Your children have volunteered you (isn't that nice of them?) to bring in the items listed below. We do not want this to be a hardship for you, so if you are unable to send in the items, just let us no and we will make other arrangements. (Absolutely NO hard feelings!! ) Also, if you do not want your child to eat a particular item, please let us know that as well. PLEASE REMEMBER WE ARE A NUT-FREE FACILITY.
The students are very excited about the entire project and have already asked if they could make NEW kindness charts now that the present ones are filled up. Hmmm...the children are requesting that they be allowed to point out the good deeds they are seeing each day. We think we will be able to accommodate them.
