Classroom visits and observation

We ask that parents do not visit our classroom for the first 4-6 weeks or so, until the children have acclimated and would not be distracted by visitors.  After that, you are welcome to schedule an observation time.

Communications

Our monthly newsletters will come home on Wednesdays in a large white envelope along with your child’s work.  Please return the folders the next day.  Some children bring home lots of paperwork and others just a few or none at all. As you know, the Montessori classroom has many wonderful manipulative materials that require no paper. The emphasis is for the child to use the concrete materials. The amount of paper does not reflect the work that the child has done.

The schools website is www.countrydaylargo.com/parents  Check the website regularly for lunch menus, calendar updates & school news. Our class newsletters, volunteer calendars and wish lists will be posted on the website. To communicate with teachers, please give us a note at arrival or call the office (596-1902) and we will call you as soon as we can. The teachers are also available via email however we are unable to check email during school hours, but usually check each day in the early morning and evenings. We are unable to chat during arrival, dismissal and work times because our attention needs to be on the children at those times.

Birthdays will be celebrated at school with a special ceremony.  Information about the birthday celebration will be sent home the month of your child’s birthday. We will schedule summer birthdays toward the end of the school year.

Snacks are provided by the school every day. We invite families to send in a snack to share with the class. If you would like to contribute please let your teachers know. See attached volunteer form.

Allergy Alert!

We have a child with a severe allergy to nuts and nut products in our school. Any contact with nuts or nut products. Our classrooms need to be nut product free. Please do not send any nuts or nut products for snack or in lunch boxes.

Children’s Line, like show-n-tell is a weekly event on Thursdays. There will be a topic assigned for each week. Topics will be in the newsletters. The newsletter is posted on the website if you forget the topic. Please try to keep objects smaller then a breadbox and put it in a ziploc bag with your child’s name.

Rest Time is a ½ hour to 45 min. quiet time/story time for all full day students.  Pre-k students must have 2 cot sheets (crib size).  Small pillows and blankets are optional. Please send a standard pillow case to transport bedding to and from home for laundering.  Please label anything you send to school with your child’s name.

Volunteers are always an important part of our program. We have many opportunities throughout the year when you can help. Please fill out the attached volunteer form and return to your teachers the first week of school to help us get organized. We very much appreciate your help and your child will be very pleased to have you share their day.

We appreciate your support and are looking forward to an exciting year!
