Preparing for your First Day of School

Backpacks: Backpacks are not necessary and are actually discouraged due to limited storage space.

Lunch: To participate in the school’s hot lunch program, view the menu online at www.countrydaylargo.com – ‘School Life’ page. Bag lunches from home must be in labeled, insulated lunch boxes with a cold pack. Microwaves and refrigerators are not available for student use. Please include nutritional items and a drink. Candy is not allowed in the classroom!

Allergy Alert! Our campus is nut free.  We have children who are severely allergic to nuts and their by-products!

Snack: A nutritious snack will be provided by our parent volunteers starting the first day of school. Your classroom Room Parent will organize a calendar of snack days.  Sign up by contacting your Room Parent.

Dress Code: Children must wear a school uniform purchased from Allen’s Sports Center, khaki bottoms and yellow, blue, white or green shirts.  Athletic style, soft soled shoes are required. Absolutely NO sandals, crocs or boots.

Communications: Express Folders: On Fridays your student will bring home a communication folder (“Express Folder”). Please empty it and return the “Express Folder” to school the following Monday.  Teachers do no check email during school hours, but usually check each day in the early morning and evenings. We are unable to chat during arrival, dismissal and work times because our attention needs to be on the children at those times. Please respect the teachers and do not contact them on their home or cell phones.

Classroom Volunteers: We are proud of our parents' involvement, and we hope to utilize the many skills and talents that our families have to offer.  Any parent that wants to volunteer in the classroom (reading, lunch duty, chaperoning field trips, share a talent, etc) are invited to complete a volunteer survey that will be available at the Meet and Greet on Aug 19th.  All volunteers are asked to produce their driver’s license and vehicle insurance card (needed if you want to drive on a field trip) and be submitted for a background check.
